Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist III-CPS to join our team. This professional position is responsible for performing complex duties in program areas, including interviewing and investigating cases involving suspected child abuse, neglect, and out-of-home placements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations and interviews to gather information and assess the needs of clients
  • Develop and implement service plans to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to clients
  • Testify in legal proceedings and provide expert testimony as needed
  • Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive services to clients
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of client interactions and service delivery
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area
  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior, and motivational theory
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain diplomacy
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances. The Family Services Specialist III-CPS may be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel to various locations throughout the state.
