Social Services Professional III

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist III-CPS to join our team. This professional position is responsible for performing complex duties in program areas, including interviewing and investigating cases of suspected child abuse and neglect, as well as placing children in foster or adoptive homes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough investigations and interviews to determine the best course of action for children and families
- Develop and implement service plans to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to clients
- Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive support to families
- Testify in court proceedings as needed
- Develop and present training programs and other presentations to educate colleagues and community members
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client interactions and service delivery
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area
- Considerable experience in the assigned program area and completion of required training programs
- Strong knowledge of social work principles and practices, human behavior and motivational theory, and laws and policies related to human services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including offices, shelters, and community locations. The employee may be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, and may be subject to emergency situations.
