This role involves case management responsibilities under the guidance of a Family Services Supervisor, focusing on providing support and assistance to residents engaged in the foster care system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to case management protocols set by the Family Services Supervisor.
- Facilitate referrals to community-based services.
- Oversee the placement and monitoring of children in foster homes.
- Engage in legal proceedings as needed, including providing testimony.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients and professionals.
- Conduct monthly visits with foster children.
- Keep accurate case records.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, family engagement, and case planning sessions.
- Support the development of independent living skills for age-appropriate foster children.
- Recruit potential adoptive families for children awaiting adoption.
- Assist in preparing foster children for adoption and manage the adoption process.
- Complete financial documentation to ensure timely payments.
- Perform additional assigned duties as required.
- Assist in providing emergency shelter as mandated.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or any field combined with at least two years of relevant experience in Human Services is required.
Extensive knowledge of social work principles, individual and group dynamics, independent living skills, and the relevant laws and regulations governing human services programs is essential.
Skills in operating a motor vehicle and proficiency with personal computers and related software are necessary.
Demonstrated Abilities:
- Effectively plan, organize, and manage work activities, including service delivery.
- Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records.
- Understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Conduct interviews, assess needs, and refer clients to appropriate resources.
- Develop and implement service plans to ensure the delivery of suitable services.
- Make informed judgments within the framework of existing laws and policies.
- Respond to clients' emotional needs to achieve service objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Collaborate as part of a team and work with youth in developing independent living skills.
- Stay informed about current trends in the social work field.
A valid driver's license is required to operate a vehicle in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Candidates must successfully pass the agency's background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the relevant program area and completion of required training programs.
- Possession of a BSW or MSW degree.
- Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license is preferred.
