Job Title: Cleanliness and Contamination Control Engineer

Thales Alenia Space is seeking a highly skilled Cleanliness and Contamination Control Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and contamination control of our spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the impact of organic and inorganic substances on spacecraft elements and identify sensitive items and areas.
  • Define contamination control requirements and prepare related specifications.
  • Prepare contamination assessments and in-orbit evaluations of outgassing from non-metallic materials.
  • Execute contamination simulations using software like COMOVA, SYSTEMA, and MolFlow.
  • Prepare models for on-orbit simulations and simplify CAD steps in FEMAP.
  • Use ESATAN for visualization of reduced geometric models and import/export temperatures/thermal maps.
  • Perform data treatment and fitting using Excel and Python routines.
  • Ensure materials and processes are compatible with mission requirements and storage/launcher requirements.
  • Assess contamination impacts on spacecraft design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, launch, and mission phases.
  • Interact with engineering disciplines, manufacturing, quality, and assembly departments to ensure contamination control.
  • Evaluate materials properties and contamination emission on-ground and in-orbit.
  • Evaluate Lunar or Martian dust impacts on space hardware performances and define design countermeasures.
Requirements:
  • Experience with cleanliness and contamination control aspects.
  • Good level of knowledge in systems engineering.
  • Knowledge in thermal engineering and optics.
  • Knowledge in chemistry with focus on organic chemistry and materials science.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Matlab, and Python for data treatment.
  • Good knowledge of CAD, FEMAP, and ESATAN.
  • Experience with spacecraft AIT activities.
  • Good knowledge of quality processes.
  • Good level of document preparation and communication skills.
  • Experience with ECSS and NASA standardizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in engineering (chemical engineering or aerospace engineering preferred).
  • Experience in R&D projects.
  • Organization and follow-on of laboratory activities.
