Position Overview

The Security Operations Center (SOC) is a vital global service within our organization, and the SOC Consultant Lead will work closely with the Security Consultant Leader in the Kyndryl Security & Resiliency Practice.

Key Responsibilities of the SOC Consultant Lead:

Our SOCs oversee customer Security Operations, safeguarding their enterprise assets by identifying, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats.

This role is intended for an experienced cybersecurity consultant with a proven track record in Security Operations and Response, capable of offering strategic guidance, leadership, and expertise to bolster the security posture of our clients.

The position necessitates extensive experience in cybersecurity risk management, combined with technical proficiency, leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior executives from diverse locations and time zones.

The SOC Consultant Lead will:

  • Formulate and implement the Security Operations Center Services, aligning goals and objectives with clients' business strategies.
  • Provide strategic insights to enhance client security posture and threat detection capabilities, advising on the optimal operating model that aligns with business objectives.
  • Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of client SOC operations, technologies, and organizational structure.
  • Guide clients on SOC design, planning, implementation, and optimization, developing strategic roadmaps that reflect their business priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, and innovation to enhance incident response and threat detection capabilities.
  • Define and implement incident response strategies and procedures for managing security incidents and breaches, ensuring that client technologies and playbooks effectively guide responses to minimize brand impact.
  • Advise on the integration of threat intelligence feeds and external data sources into client SOC operations to improve threat detection, while staying informed about emerging threats and trends to shape clients' security strategies.
  • As a senior consultant, lead, mentor, and manage a team of security consultants and subject matter experts.
  • Foster a collaborative and motivated work environment, promoting professional growth and skill development.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and vulnerabilities, applying this knowledge to enhance clients' threat detection capabilities.
  • Counsel clients on managing SOC budgets, including technology investments, training, and personnel.
  • Assess and select security technologies and tools to strengthen SOC capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with other business units within Kyndryl to ensure a cohesive approach to Security & Resiliency.
  • Provide regular updates and executive reports on global SOC consulting activities and strategies to Kyndryl Security & Resiliency leadership.
  • Ensure that clients' security operations comply with industry regulations, standards, and legal requirements across various regions.
  • Communicate technical security matters to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle management of large-scale initiatives.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding project status.
  • Implement project standards across initiatives for consistent service delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive deployment plans and document lessons learned from projects.
  • Establish SOC monitoring and manage transitions to steady-state operations.
  • Provide guidance to Project Managers and Project Coordinators.

Qualifications

Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field, or at least 6 years of directly relevant industry experience.
  • Over 8 years of proven experience in cybersecurity, including leadership roles.
  • At least 3 years of experience in SOC consulting, with a minimum of 2 years in SOC positions.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, threat landscapes, and attack vectors.
  • Familiarity with security monitoring tools, SIEM platforms, incident response processes, SOC Runbooks, and Incident Response playbooks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performance consulting teams.
  • Understanding of network technologies and typical IT architectures.
  • Experience in cloud security infrastructure and architectures.
  • Proficiency in English and Italian.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:

  • Knowledge of widely adopted frameworks and methodologies (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, CIS, NIST-CSF).
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or equivalent.
