Job Title: Global Medical Affairs Lead

Job Summary:

The Global Medical Affairs Lead will be responsible for developing and executing the medical vision, strategic operating plan, and key medical initiatives for Eyecare innovative products. This role will involve building a team of medical colleagues, collaborating with cross-functional colleagues, and providing subject matter expertise in the assigned therapy area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute the medical vision, strategic operating plan, and key medical initiatives for Eyecare innovative products.
  • Build a team of medical colleagues responsible for the generation, dissemination, and education of data, information, and knowledge to medical experts and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues across Viatris and provide expertise for medical discussions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the assigned therapy area and assets, including clinical evidence, standard of care, unmet needs, and competitive intelligence.
  • Oversee innovative product medical strategy, provide guidance, medical inputs, and consultation to address medical issues for innovative products.
  • Lead Medical Affairs engagement interfacing with key functions, including Regulatory and Marketing.
  • Own the scientific planning process for innovative products, including strategy for data generation, data dissemination, and KOL communications development.
  • Engage in external collaborations to gain insight and facilitate development of innovative products, life cycle plans, and value maximization.
  • Review manuscripts to ensure alignment with strategy and effective communication/presentation in internal and external audiences.
  • Build visibility for the company's innovative programs and projects through publications and presentations at relevant scientific meetings.
  • Develop in-year medical tactical plan and manage budget for global initiatives.
  • Share and educate KOLs on clinical trial data and information available to demonstrate clinical advantage vs current SoC for early support.
  • Spread awareness of unmet need to relevant HCPs.
  • Educate relevant HCPs on new Tx modality and its impact on improving patient outcomes to ensure local protocol inclusion.
  • Conduct awareness drives for nurses, patients, and caregivers to educate about new Tx.
  • Conduct KOL mapping and educate KOLs identified regarding Eye Care Products' clinical trial data, clinical profile, and target patient population (TPP).
  • Educate PAGs on new Tx modality, including MoA, and improved outcomes.
  • Design and develop patient solutions.
  • Ensure robust post-marketing surveillance, PV, and RWE generation strategy and approach is in place to drive confidence in prescribing and support reimbursement.
  • Provide TA medical leadership through accountability of strategic medical initiatives for scientific advancement to build evidence, drive growth, risk mitigation, business continuity, and TA leadership.
  • Lead functional plans supporting global medical strategy.
  • Develop/maintain Global & Key Regional KOL panel, partner with KOLs, and scientific associations for execution of key MA strategies.
  • Ensure TA Training & capability development of medical teams across Viatris.
  • Advocate compliance to medical operating model.
  • Participate in product development strategy and lifecycle management of global key brands.
  • Identify unmet medical needs and provide inputs into ideation process and assessment of new business opportunities.
  • Act as a company scientific representative to engage external scientific leaders, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and/or regulatory authorities.
  • Provide support to Viatris Eye Care Council as a core member of the committee.
  • Review sponsorships, collaborative research proposals, educational grant, and IITs submissions related to Eye care Products.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or equivalent required.
  • MD, Pharm D, or PhD with relevant Ophthalmology specialization preferred.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of Therapeutic Area and Regional Leadership experience required.
  • 5 years of Clinical experience preferred.
  • Understanding of disease area (Ophthalmology), healthcare, and pharmaceutical environment.
  • Global medical/commercial governance.
  • Medical cross-functions – Safety, clinical, regulatory, etc.
  • Experience working in Matrix environment.
  • Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading, and writing English required.
