About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Operations & Innovation Field Service Engineer to join our team at Microsoft. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
  • Engage with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects.
  • Manage programs associated with area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate conscientiousness on cost and adhere to budget requirements.
  • Follow and adhere to safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report immediately any safety or security issues or concerns.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as appropriate.
Service Delivery

As a Cloud Operations & Innovation Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Maximizing Critical Environment (CE) availability in conjunction with our landlord partners at our leased Datacenters.
  • Ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in our leased Datacenters.
  • Reducing high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) incidents year over year.
  • Delivering on cost/energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Supporting delivery of the Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans.
  • Acting as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within our leased datacenters.
  • Coordinating, planning, scheduling, and supervising CE audits and compliance verification as needed.
  • Ensuring routine reporting to effectively manage and analyze our Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLA monitoring.
  • Establishing and enhancing strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs), and Landlord partners.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ year(s) industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility, OR 3+ years industry experience and college coursework.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years' experience in Critical Environment infrastructures or IT infrastructures.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services.
  • Experience working on large scale CE projects.
  • Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure.
