Job Title: Forestry Officer - International Policy and Governance

FAO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forestry Officer to join its team in Rome, Italy. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of international forest policy, including the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests (UNSPF) and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and implementation of international forest policy, including the UNSPF and CPF.
  • Provide technical support to international forest-related policy dialogues at all levels.
  • Collaborate with partners, including CPF Members and the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) Secretariat, to foster collaboration and coordination of the work of CPF.
  • Provide policy advice, drafts and reviews policy briefs, documents, reports and knowledge products related to international forest policy.
  • Support the development of CPF workplan and joint initiatives in partnership with other CPF Members.
Requirements:
  • Advanced university degree in international relations, natural resources, forestry or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in international forest or environmental policy.
  • Working knowledge (full proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
