Job Summary:

Hitachi Rail S.p.A. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traction and Auxiliary Control Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing control systems for our rail transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct requirements analysis to define control architecture and detailed requirements for our rail projects.
  2. Develop and implement propulsion system and power converter models and simulations to support component sizing and topology choice.
  3. Design and develop functions and algorithms to meet technical specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  4. Develop and maintain software and firmware libraries for our control systems.
  5. Evaluate and implement harmonics emission control actions to ensure compliance with electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements.
  6. Design and develop propulsion diagnostic and condition-based maintenance (CBM) algorithms to optimize system performance and reduce downtime.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Excellent knowledge of automation control theory and signal processing.
  2. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and Linux, with experience in developing embedded systems in real-time environments.
  3. Preferred experience in developing control algorithms for embedded systems in real-time environments.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong focus on innovation and digitalization.
  2. Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  3. Good written and spoken English language skills.

Education and Qualifications:

Automation, Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering degree, with a preferred Ph.D. in automation engineering.

Languages:

English proficiency.
