Job Title: Communication Officer

The Communication Officer plays a crucial role in the FAO's internal communications team, responsible for producing high-quality content that effectively communicates the Organization's work and initiatives to its global internal audience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement internal communications strategies to engage staff and promote the Organization's work.
  • Produce a variety of content, including written materials, graphics, and videos, to support internal communications channels.
  • Collaborate with team members to design and develop new media outlets and assets to increase brand visibility and maximize impact on communication platforms.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with key media organizations, journalists, and other relevant strategic partners to raise the visibility of the Organization's work.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and lead working groups/teams to promote best practices in communications.
Requirements:
  • Advanced university degree in communication, social science, journalism, political science, or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in communication, intranet/web publishing, and/or design with demonstrated management responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.

  • Extent and relevance of experience in drafting high-quality written materials for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in intranet/web publishing and/or design.
  • Experience training and guiding team members in internal communications workflows and use of tools and applications.
  • Ability to write, edit, and synthesize complex messaging in English for an internal audience.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in managing content production, in particular graphic and video content for internal channels and events.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro) and SiteFinity.
  • Strong understanding of FAO policies and programmes is considered a strong asset.
  • Extent and relevance of experience in the field of communication services for prominent organizations, particularly at the international level.
