Renewable Energy Site Operations Manager

OBJECTIVE
Oversee, manage, and direct the operations of designated solar and wind facilities within Italy. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards by main contractors, while implementing maintenance strategies and protocols established by the central Operations & Maintenance (O&M) departments. The goal is to optimize energy output, extend asset lifespan, minimize operational costs, and uphold high-quality standards for the facilities under management.
Provide assistance to the local O&M team in managing additional facilities as directed by the Head of O&M Italy when necessary.
Work closely with the Asset Manager to meet the strategic goals set for the assigned facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HSE COMPLIANCE: Ensure adherence to local HSE laws and regulations, as well as company protocols at the assigned facilities.HSE INITIATIVES: Participate in identifying and documenting non-conformities, advocate for corrective and preventive measures, and implement best practices in health and safety. Conduct inspections at the facilities and assist with audits performed by other departments or external consultants.MANAGEMENT OF SERVICE PROVIDERS: Approve maintenance schedules with primary contractors and authorize the execution of maintenance tasks at the assigned facilities. Act as the liaison for suppliers, ensuring they meet contractual obligations while optimizing operational performance.LOCAL OPERATIONS: Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the facilities. Manage MV/HV substations and collaborate with the dispatch center for both local and remote operations. Ensure effective communication with the Transmission System Operator (TSO).REPORTING: Ensure timely submission of maintenance reports by contractors in accordance with their contractual obligations. Maintain accurate records of relevant data through the SCADA systems and other tools provided by the company (e.g., SAP PM, Dynamics). Analyze data collected from SCADA systems to support decision-making.COORDINATION WITH REMOTE OPERATIONS: Ensure effective collaboration with the remote operations and dispatch center. Communicate weekly maintenance plans and update maintenance schedules as necessary due to environmental conditions or faults.TSO/DSO COLLABORATION: Work with the Asset Manager to comply with TSO/DSO procedures and maintain contact with local TSO representatives for required remote and local maneuvers.CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT: Ensure optimal conditions and maintenance of the facilities, addressing malfunctions or underperformance promptly. Identify suitable service providers for repairs and coordinate activities among various suppliers involved in maintenance contracts.OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE: Ensure that scheduled maintenance activities are executed as outlined in the maintenance plans, with regular updates on progress.BUDGET MANAGEMENT: Define expected operational expenditures (OPEX) for O&M activities and continuously monitor the approved budget, reporting any unplanned costs to the Asset Manager.EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders (management, contractors, landowners, emergency services) in the event of accidents or emergencies at the site.CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Foster a culture of operational excellence by promoting ongoing improvement processes throughout all phases (analysis, definition, implementation, monitoring). Embrace a mindset geared towards enhancing processes, operational drivers, and key performance indicators (KPIs).POLICY AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE: Understand and adhere to the policies, directives, and procedures established by the company, ensuring that contractors comply as well.QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Technical high school diploma in a relevant field; a degree in engineering is advantageous.Language proficiency: Italian, English; Spanish is a plus.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in wind or solar.Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as SAP PM, is preferred.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of solar and wind technologies.Experience in operations of solar and wind facilities.Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and teamwork.Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership.-
