About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Management Specialist to join our team at Microsoft. As a key member of our Construction Project Management team, you will be responsible for providing commercial management services for our EMEA region projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercially manage projects in the EMEA region, focusing on improvement initiatives and consistent application of cost processes.
  • Support pre-construction stages of the build, including site selection, design development, and contract sum agreement.
  • Lead initial cost planning and estimating on all projects across the EMEA portfolio.
  • Work closely with sub-regional leads to maintain consistent application of cost processes and implementation across the EMEA region.
  • Manage improvement initiatives, coordinating with sub-regions to track progress and collate EMEA-wide reporting.
  • Provide commercial support on business cases, value engineering studies, and change control during design development.
  • Prepare commercial data to support Microsoft Change Management process.
  • Produce Blank BQs, pricing documents, and General Contractor pre-tender estimates.
  • Provide commercial input for Stage Gate approvals and Senior Management briefings.
  • Support program and project management, procurement, design, and estimating teams.
  • Provide monthly Final Reports for all pre-construction projects.
  • Collaborate with the PER team to ascertain required funding intervals and provide commercial information to support funding requests.
  • Contribute to regional benchmarking data and liaison with the global benchmarking team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Controls, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a matrix environment within a large organization.
  • Proven experience in a commercial management role on a major construction portfolio.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Commercial knowledge of construction internationally is preferred but not essential.
  • MS Excel proficiency is required.
  • People management experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) full membership or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
