Cafeteria Specialist

Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Specialist is a vital member of the Natrona County School team, responsible for preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel while maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Arrange setup for food items, supplies, serving lines, and/or equipment to ensure items are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements.
• Clean utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation, and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Collect payments for food items from students and staff to secure funds for reimbursement of costs.
• Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to present items that will be accepted by students and staff.
• Inspect food items and/or supplies to verify quantity and specifications of orders and/or comply with mandated health standards.
• Maintain records and reports as required to provide historical documentation and meet local, State, and Federal guidelines.
• Maintain strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues to protect personal information.
• Monitor students' food choices to meet mandated requirements and ensure adequate nutrition.
• Oversee inventory to ensure availability of items according to schedule.
• Prepare and serve food and beverage items according to approved recipes to meet mandated nutritional and health requirements.
• Report equipment malfunctions to maintain equipment in safe working order.
• Respond to inquiries of students, staff, and parents to provide information and direction regarding the type and cost of meals.
• Serve one or more items of food to meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
• Stock food, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items.
• Supervise assistants to maintain a quality workforce and ensure safe practices are followed.
• Verify quantity and quality of food prepared to maintain accurate records and ensure students have the proper amount of food.

Requirements:

• High school graduation or GED
• Food Handlers/Serv Safe Certification by NRA within one year of hire
