EHS Program Coordinator

Position Overview

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist plays a crucial role in establishing, executing, and sustaining the organization's environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This position is essential for ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws, along with industry benchmarks and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Stay informed about updates and changes in regulations.
• Interpret regulations in relation to site operations.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and work instructions as necessary.
• Conduct training sessions on the effective use of policies and procedures.
• Regularly assess the performance and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Coordinate and execute various EHS activities to maintain compliance with regional and state regulatory authorities.
• Foster relationships with regulatory bodies and certification organizations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints related to EH&S issues.
• Implement corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence and ensure compliance.
• Conduct routine safety observations.
• Provide guidance and coaching to leadership and employees on various EHS topics.
• Deliver EHS training for both new and existing employees, maintaining accurate training records.
• Understand, implement, and monitor EHS measures and metrics.
• Establish and maintain metrics for regulatory compliance.
• Research and draft effective EHS procedures and policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Execute all global EHS requests, including Hazard ID declarations and Gemba Walks.
• Participate in EHS meetings and present safety performance data.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not include supervisory responsibilities. It reports to the site Managing Director with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

Education, Experience & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental engineering, or a related field (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EH&S management or specialist roles, preferably in the mechanical industry.
- Candidates must be trained for the RSPP position as per the State-Regions Agreement.
- Certification in ISO or other relevant EH&S standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations and requirements.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and evaluate EH&S programs and policies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
