Fruit Operations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Fruit Operations Specialist to join our team in Bologna, Italy. In this 24-month fixed-term contract, you will be responsible for supporting pre-harvest activities such as crop protection standards, crop estimation, and residue management for Europe.

About Zespri

Zespri is a leading marketer of kiwifruit with operations in over 50 countries. We work with around 4,300 growers and post-harvest companies to source the best-quality Zespri Kiwifruit. Our company culture is built on personal connection, results-driven approach, and commitment to guardianship.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and update crop protection standards for different countries and varieties.
  • Execute and report on the pre-season residue program.
  • Coordinate with the Pre-Harvest Lead to ensure efficient residue collection, sampling, and reporting aligned with clearance processes.
  • Support the execution of the residue seasonal program for different varieties.
  • Visit orchards across Italy during the summer period to ensure accuracy of crop estimation data.
  • Analyze data and attend weekly technical conference calls as required.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years' experience in horticulture operations or relevant contract support services.
  • Strong understanding of entomology, plant pathology, and plant physiology.
  • Fluent Italian and English language skills, with French being an advantage.
  • Knowledge of residue standards, testing procedures, and Integrated Pest Management principles.
  • Analytical mindset to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Clean driving license and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

The salary for this role is estimated at €55,000 - €65,000 per year, depending on experience.
