Position Overview:
At Amazon Italia Logistica S.R.L., we are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to enhance our operations within our advanced Fulfilment Centers.


ROLE OBJECTIVE:

The Automation Engineer will primarily focus on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and optimizing control solutions for automated material handling systems, including conveyors, sortation mechanisms, scanners, and various control devices.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all control systems and sensors within the facility, actively engaging in monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing systems to ensure high equipment availability.
  • Educate technicians on fundamental control systems troubleshooting to elevate site-wide knowledge.
  • Collaborate within the EU Controls network to improve the monitoring of material handling equipment metrics and provide insightful data to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives driven by the EU Automation network.
  • Work closely with IT and Engineering teams to ensure proper documentation and maintenance of backup libraries for all systems.
  • Assist global teams in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Provide support to other sites within the EU network as necessary.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with PLC-controlled automation and troubleshooting in a continuous process or production setting.
  • A Bachelor's degree or nearing completion of a Bachelor's degree within one year.
  • Experience with a diverse range of conveyors and sortation systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient in following and developing improvement strategies for code compliant with IEC standards.
  • Capability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with material handling, flow, and capacity visualization and monitoring.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Ignition, Visio, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication skills in English and the local language at CEFR Level B2 or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Educational background in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13849 & 62061 standards.
  • Understanding of CE Machinery Directive.
  • Experience in a multi-site operational environment.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies.
