About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Decarbonization Strategist to join our ERM team in the Private Markets Decarbonization space. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing decarbonization strategies for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive decarbonization plans for private equity and infrastructure clients, focusing on investment-grade solutions that drive business value and reduce carbon footprint.
  • Collaborate with clients' ESG, investment, and operating teams to design and implement decarbonization projects, ensuring alignment with their broader portfolio and firm-level ESG goals.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across ERM's sustainable energy solutions, M&A, digital, and Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change expert groups to deliver high-impact decarbonization projects.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to clients and portfolio company management on translating decarbonization initiatives into value-creating business models, ensuring long-term sustainable business value creation.
  • Conduct energy transition and climate-focused due diligence projects throughout the diligence lifecycle, identifying key ESG and low-carbon economy drivers to increase value and reduce risks.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in delivering investment-grade decarbonization plans, with a strong track record of building plans that drive business value beyond just opex savings.
  • Detailed understanding of energy efficiency measures, renewable energy procurement, low-carbon solutions, and sustainable value chain initiatives.
  • Experience in managing and delivering decarbonization programs for companies, with a deep understanding of how those operational projects fit within private equity and infrastructure clients' decarbonization programs and broader investment processes.
  • Desirable skills include in-depth knowledge of private equity and infrastructure investors, experience in leading strategic engagements at the C-suite level, and knowledge of energy transition investing, Science Based Targets, and Scope 3 abatement programs.
