We are seeking an Urban Energy Leader to enhance our Sustainable Development (SUS) team within the Milan Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Urban Energy and Cities Decarbonization initiatives for Arup Italy.
  • Coordinate the Urban Energy Hub, serving as a center of excellence for various competencies, including net zero carbon policies, renewable energy advisory, and urban energy infrastructure design.
  • Drive business development efforts in the Urban Energy market, collaborating with leaders across Cities, Transport, Property, and Energy sectors.
  • Support Climate & Sustainability projects in Italy, focusing on climate services for both public and private clients.
  • Assist in promotional activities for the Sustainable Development and Business Investment Advisory leaders in the energy and climate domains.
  • Enhance the Urban Energy network across Europe, leveraging the Urban Energy Hub.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including cities, investors, developers, and international financing institutions, to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Develop strategic plans for key Urban Energy clients and contribute to high-quality proposal submissions.
  • Establish a strong market presence by participating in industry events and congresses, promoting Arup's visibility in the Energy & Resources sector.
  • Contribute to the development of European and national Urban Energy and Carbon policies, focusing on mitigation and decarbonization strategies.
  • Collaborate on Urban Energy strategy and design, integrating climate adaptation and resilience approaches.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficient in industry standards and analytical methodologies for energy, utilities, and infrastructure business cases.
  • Experience in quantitative policy analysis within energy, transport, or climate change sectors.
  • Strong understanding of economic models and the skills to leverage them for sustainable development opportunities.
  • Experience in business planning, feasibility studies, and financial appraisals related to energy and utilities.
  • Able to manage tight deadlines and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members and clients.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
  • Highly analytical and adept at problem-solving.
  • Proficient in analytical and presentation software, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Fluency in English and Italian.
