We are seeking an Urban Energy Leader to be a pivotal part of our Sustainable Development (SUS) team based in Milan. This role is crucial in guiding our clients in the energy sector and urban environments towards achieving zero carbon integrated energy systems, utilizing renewable resources to meet the rising demand for clean energy across all sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Urban Energy and Cities Decarbonisation initiatives for Arup Italy.
  • Oversee the Urban Energy Hub, serving as a center of excellence for integrating diverse competencies, including net zero carbon policies, renewable energy advisory, and urban energy infrastructure design.
  • Drive business development efforts in the Urban Energy market, collaborating with leaders across various sectors such as Cities, Transport, Property, and Energy.
  • Contribute to the Climate & Sustainability portfolio, focusing on climate services for both public and private sector clients.
  • Support promotional initiatives for the Sustainable Development and Business Investment Advisory leaders in the energy and climate domains.
  • Enhance the Urban Energy network across Europe, both personally and through the Urban Energy Hub.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including cities, investors, developers, and international financing institutions, to stay informed about market trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic plans for key Urban Energy clients, ensuring high-quality proposal submissions.
  • Establish a strong market presence by participating in industry events and congresses, promoting Arup's expertise in the Energy and Resources sector.
  • Advance the firm’s capabilities in Urban Energy and Carbon policy development, focusing on mitigation and decarbonisation strategies at the city level.
  • Coordinate Urban energy strategy and design with climate adaptation and resilience initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in industry standards and methodologies, with a solid understanding of analytical models used in energy, utilities, and infrastructure business cases.
  • Experience in quantitative policy analysis related to energy, transport, or climate change.
  • In-depth knowledge of economic models and the skills to unlock sustainable development opportunities across various sectors.
  • Expertise in business planning, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses related to energy regulations and low carbon solutions.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to rapid project timelines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members and clients.
  • Experience in line management.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in tools such as MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated interest and success in business development and client relations.
  • Fluency in English and Italian.
