Mechanical Design Engineer for Bioprocessing Innovation

Job Description

At Donaldson, we are committed to solving the world's most complex filtration challenges. As a Mechanical Engineer at Solaris Biotech, you will play a vital role in designing and developing innovative bioreactor and filtration solutions for the biotech, pharma, and food and beverage industries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support R&D Efforts: Collaborate with our R&D team to design and develop innovative bioreactor and filtration solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
  • Innovate and Solve Complex Challenges: Apply your expertise in bioprocess industry and engineering to innovate and solve complex customer challenges, creating a competitive advantage in the bioprocessing space.
  • Develop Mechanical Design: Develop mechanical designs of product concepts in 3D, ensuring they meet the required specifications and regulations.
  • Perform Calculations and Simulations: Perform calculations and simulations together with process engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure the feasibility and efficiency of our designs.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Carry out engineering design according to cGMP, pharmaceutical technical regulation, and local regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Process/Pharmaceutical Engineering is required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design of equipment is necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills across a globally diverse workforce are essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Basic understanding of applicable regulatory and quality Standards (CE, cGMP, ...) is required.
Technical Competence & Skills:
  • Process Control Knowledge: Knowledge of process control and P&IDs standard settings is necessary.
  • Hydraulic Sizing Capability: Capability of hydraulic sizing of lines and main process equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, agitation groups, valves, etc..) is required.
  • Safety Regulation Knowledge: Knowledge safety regulation related to machinery (Machinery Directive, PED, ASME-U, etc..) is necessary.
  • Software Skills: Experience in using 2D/3D software such as: Autocad, Solid Edge, Solidworks, Siemens NX is required.
Salary and Benefits:

We offer a highly competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
