Sungrow - EMEA is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our ESS technical team in Italy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for technical design and customized solution proposals for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. Your expertise will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of energy storage assignments and driving the growth of our ESS European market.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform high-quality technical advisory works for pre-sale BESS activities
  • Project manage and interface between engineering disciplines (ESS electric, mechanical, civil, and control scheme)
  • Provide technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility of the project and integration with other electrical or generating plants as necessary
  • Review overall project conceptual design, detailed design, and suggest technical and design improvements for ESS projects
  • Prepare and manage specifications, tendering, negotiation, and selection of battery storage system plants
  • Perform due diligence of ESS projects and support customers and lenders throughout the financial close process, including technical liaison with legal and financial advisors
  • Establish ESS technical specifications in accordance with European countries' regulations and international standards (IEC/IEEE)
Your Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical preferred) and a strong background in BESS technology. Your expertise should include:

  • Experience with BESS technology, with European BESS technology experience being ideal
  • An in-depth knowledge and field expertise regarding BESS technologies, including emerging technologies and the international market
  • Technical advisory experience towards investors, project developers, and experience with BESS plant design dealing with technical advisory support
  • International solar PV or hybrid projects development and delivery experience
  • Proven experience in technical review communication with clients and other project parties (utilities, BoP, EPC, etc)
  • Languages: Italian and English at least C1, Chinese is a plus
