Position Summary

The Procurement Manager for Manufacturing Operations will report directly to the Purchasing Manager for South Europe & MEA. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency across various sites, including Domodossola, Sardinia, Modena, and Ravenna, overseeing a purchasing budget of €40 million.

Responsibilities for Local Procurement

  • Manage purchase agreements for local operational and capital expenditures.
  • Assist in the implementation of significant capital expenditures at designated sites.
  • Maintain a regular presence at the various operational locations.
  • Identify and negotiate with new suppliers to secure favorable contracts.
  • Propose and oversee local purchasing synergies.
  • Evaluate supplier performance through established KPIs and appraisals.
  • Conduct reporting and analysis, collaborating with financial teams to document the financial outcomes of procurement activities.

Implementation of Global and Regional Procurement Strategies

  • Collaborate closely with regional category managers across various sectors such as indirect procurement, transportation, energy, chemicals, packaging, raw materials, and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement strategies and policies at the site level.
  • Organize and manage local trials with suppliers, whether global, regional, or local.
  • Lead new procurement initiatives at cross-cluster or national levels as needed.

Contribution to Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Act as the primary contact for plant managers at the assigned sites.
  • Gather and optimize local procurement needs, anticipating requirements in terms of quantity and specifications.
  • Ensure internal customer satisfaction regarding the performance of the procurement team.
  • Serve as the entry point for all procurement requests.
  • Oversee supplier quality management processes.
  • Foster close collaboration with supply chain and procurement teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, planning, and teamwork skills.
  • Highly motivated and proactive in driving change.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to maintain a comprehensive view and align business needs with procurement strategies.
  • Confident decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in Google tools, MS Office, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP/R3, SPA/HANA).
  • Ability to quickly grasp high-level technical aspects of the categories managed.
  • Understanding and promotion of the procurement cycle.
  • Capability to support and advocate for the development and implementation of effective procurement methods and tools.
  • Language proficiency: Italian and English (both at an advanced level).
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferably in Engineering, otherwise in Economics/MBA).
  • Experience: Over 5 years in a similar role, preferably within a multinational corporation.
  • Willingness to travel: approximately 30%-50%, depending on the base location.
