About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Alstom Gruppe. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of our transportation systems, including high-speed trains, electric buses, and driverless trains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Computer-Aided Design (CAD) activities and deliverables on an area in one Electrical or Mechanical Domain on a project in compliance with Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) commitments.
  • Apply applicable Electrical/Mechanical Domain instructions, processes, and tools.

  • Functional Reporting: Mechanical Lead Engineer (MLE) or Electrical Design Leader
Network and Links

Accountabilities
  • Perform 3D design annotations and 2D deliverables in compliance with QCD commitments, Metier rules, and processes.
  • Model and store allocated volumes and interfaces for sub-systems/components in Digital Mock-Up.
  • Perform Detailed Design on internal sub-systems.
  • Fill up attributes for each part in Digital Mock-Up (naming, material, Fire & Smoke, etc.).
  • Verify consistency of digital mock-up (no clash, etc.) and compliance with requirements (allocated volumes, weight, interfaces, etc.) on assigned scope.
  • Prepare and document Domain Design Reviews.
  • Check CADs' and sub-contractor's Design Quality.
  • Realize stack-up analysis.
  • Realize Bill of Material.
  • Plan and pilot Electrical/Mechanical Domain activities of assigned zone and related deliverables on project taking into account applicable instructions/processes and other specific Customer (internal or external) requirements.
  • Apply Technical or Technical Design rules, processes, and tools (single-domain) and ensure Domain deliverables quality and their acceptance by the Customer (internal or external) within committed limits.
  • Manage production of deliverables in accordance with Planning targets on the Domain assigned zone.
  • Design products taking into account project requirements (performances, manufacturability, serviceability, testability, etc.).
  • Prepare and document Domain Design Reviews according to project schedule and follow up the main open actions.
  • Check respect of Allocated volumes/interfaces (no-clashes) on internal design.
  • Resolve Project issues in assigned zone.
  • Report on the Electrical/Mechanical Domain activities progress and alert relevant N+1 in case of issue potentially impacting achievement of QCD commitments.
  • Respect and/or allocate requirements and interfaces to Sub-Systems/equipment (Allocated volume, weight, location, 3PL, etc.).
  • Analyze change request impacts on assigned zone and apply change if request accepted.
  • Validate relevant Domain deliverables and secure planning.
Contributions
  • Perform quotation of engineering work-package, upon request.
  • Support Sourcing, Industrialization, and Manufacturing teams during Production ramp-up.
  • Collaborate with MDL for continuous improvement of the Domain (including RoE).
Requirements
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferably applied to Railway products with 1 to 2 years of experience.
  • Good Communications and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer).
  • Time management and reporting skill.
  • Sense of urgency/priority.
  • Structured and organized with Hands-on approach.
  • English operational in read/writing and technical meetings.
