About Altra Running

Founded in 2009 and based in Denver, Colorado, Altra Running emerged from a vision to create superior running footwear. The journey began when Golden Harper reimagined traditional running shoes, leading to the innovative concept of a "Zero Drop" shoe. This design aimed to eliminate the height difference between the heel and toe, challenging the conventional padding found in most athletic shoes. With the collaboration of co-founders Brian Beckstead, Jeremy Howlett, and Quirl Jacob Hansen, and support from Pulse Labs, Altra Footwear was launched, deriving its name from the Latin word "altera," meaning "to fix or mend something that is broken."

Role Overview

The Sales Support Specialist will play a crucial role within a national sales team dedicated to enhancing the performance of ALTRA's retail accounts. This position focuses on representing the brand effectively in the market, driving sales growth through comprehensive staff training, stock management, customer insights, and effective in-store presentation.

The selected individual will oversee the backend of the commercial operations, ensuring precision and timely execution to optimize results across all accounts, with a particular emphasis on the most significant and rapidly expanding accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Training:

  • Develop and implement travel plans to ensure regular and effective store coverage across all account locations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all administrative tasks.
  • Maximize sales through deep product knowledge and exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct both formal and informal training sessions for retail partners, ensuring staff are well-versed in the features and benefits of the ALTRA product range.
  • Enhance the staff training program, becoming the internal product expert and raising expertise levels across the organization.
  • Serve as the go-to expert on brand technologies within the team.

Brand Excellence:

  • Provide sales teams with essential feedback on sell-through data, stock levels, and competitor activities.
  • Foster strong in-store relationships to ensure optimal product display and high retail presentation standards.
  • Deliver quality insights to the Sales Manager and Sales Representatives regarding customer and market data to support account management.
  • Assist with customer sales and marketing initiatives, including staffing events and key selling periods.
  • Act as a liaison between the Sales Manager and Sales Representatives for all relevant customer activities.
  • Handle ad hoc operational requests and support order entry processes.
  • Assist with product documentation and content for account onboarding.

Ambassador Engagement:

  • Lead the T-RED ambassadors in promoting ALTRA within local communities, providing training on product benefits and performance feedback.

Internal Support:

  • Coordinate the setup and organization of the showroom for each selling season, ensuring a seamless operation.
  • Manage sales responsibilities for smaller direct territory accounts and lead showroom days for B2B accounts.
  • Provide primary support for sales agents, ensuring effective management of the specified geographical region.

Qualifications for Success

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Essential retail experience, preferably within the running and outdoor sectors, with previous staff training experience being advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and influence store teams.
  • Ability to travel frequently as required by the role.
  • A passion for the outdoor lifestyle and excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
