Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Group Head of Sustainability, the Sustainability and Social Impact Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the sustainability strategy and reporting framework of the Italgas Group, with a particular emphasis on social impacts and human rights. This role involves collaborating with various departments and operational areas to ensure alignment with the Italgas Sustainable Value Creation Plan and adherence to both national and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties will encompass:


• Keeping abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and evaluation models to assess their relevance and potential impact on the Group and its value chain.

• Identifying and assessing new avenues for implementing sustainability best practices.

• Contributing to the achievement of the objectives outlined in Italgas' Sustainable Value Creation Plan.

• Overseeing and facilitating specific projects across environmental and social dimensions at both central and local levels, maximizing the social value of initiatives.

• Collecting and monitoring non-financial reporting data, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate trends.

• Acting as a primary liaison with Group Companies and various Functions (e.g., Investor Relations, Strategy, HSE, Operations, Procurement, Compliance, ERM).

• Enhancing Italgas' performance in key sustainability indices, overseeing data collection, and presenting findings and areas for improvement.

• Supporting the external assurance process for non-financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with legislative requirements and best practices.

• Monitoring sustainability KPIs monthly and reporting performance to senior management.

• Assisting in the implementation of social programs, ensuring structured involvement of the supply chain.

• Understanding the regulatory landscape regarding social issues and human rights at an international level.

• Engaging with stakeholders internally and externally to embed social topics and impacts across all business areas.

• Developing guiding principles and policies on social issues, including human rights.

• Collaborating with external stakeholders on joint sustainability projects.

• Analyzing the social impacts of Group activities, including operations, sponsorships, and donations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:


• Master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Social Science, Management, Renewable Energy, or Sustainability.

• A minimum of 7-8 years of experience in sustainability, climate change, and social issues at a corporate level or in consulting.

• Knowledge or experience in the industry is a strong asset, along with relevant experience in other regulated sectors.

• A comprehensive understanding of the sustainability reporting landscape and direct experience managing sustainability topics.

• Significant experience in non-financial reporting and developing Corporate Reporting and ESG reporting programs in line with global standards.

• Expertise in evaluating sustainability impacts and conducting ESG Due Diligence.

• Proficiency in stakeholder engagement, materiality analysis, benchmarking, and business case development.

• Strong technical expertise in Corporate Reporting programs and familiarity with socially responsible/ESG reporting standards.

• Knowledge of circular economy principles and other sustainable concepts.

• Solid understanding of social issues and human rights within a corporate context, with experience in structuring and implementing social impact projects.

• Excellent data management and analytical skills, with experience in reporting tools.

• Strong project management and organizational skills, delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.

• Ability to understand and address the concerns of others effectively.

• A collaborative team player who is enthusiastic and supportive.

• Strong communication skills with internal stakeholders and a range of external contacts.

• Proficiency in English.
