Ansaldo Energia provides tailored assembly, testing, commissioning, on-site installation, and integrated logistics services for various market segments, including new builds, fusion, plant operation assistance, decommissioning, and waste management.

Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Components Engineer to support engineering design activities mainly referring to pressure-retaining components for nuclear applications. The successful candidate will design and size bespoke components, identifying "fit for purpose" solutions from conceptual to detailed design.

Main Responsibilities

The Mechanical Components Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the execution of design activities
  • Drafting technical specs, mechanical stress analysis calculations, modeling, and drawings
  • Ensuring the technical evaluation of supplier offers and technical follow-up of supplies
  • Following up manufacturing up to factory acceptance tests
  • Supporting on-site installation and testing activities for mechanical components
  • Coordinating mono-disciplinary working groups

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Master's degree in Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years' experience in mechanical components design
  • Skills in designing mechanical components
  • Knowledge of sizing/calculation of mechanical components, including 3D modeling and BIM methodology integration
  • Knowledge of construction/manufacturing norms and standards (e.g., ASME, EN13445, etc.) and EU Directives (e.g., Machine Directive, PED)
  • Advanced skills in Finite Element Modeling software (e.g., Ansys or similar structural analysis software)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
  • Capability to take initiative, with a proactive attitude and personal drive
  • Relationship-oriented
  • Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to travel
