We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our Department of Design and Construction, you will be responsible for managing and delivering complex capital projects across the five boroughs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all project phases, including scoping, initiation, design, procurement, construction, and post-construction.
- Coordinate and lead project and site meetings, ensuring timely and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Liaise and collaborate with DDC support units and City Agencies, including sponsors/providers and regulatory approvers.
- Manage the performance and deliverables of all vendors, including design consultants, commissioning agents, special inspectors, construction managers, and contractors.
- Utilize Agency resources to ensure projects meet DDC's Commitment Plan and KPI objectives.
- Maintain comprehensive project history files and project information tracking system.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, prepare thorough and accurate project correspondence and reports.
- Develop and maintain complete project accounting records and timely audit and process all vendors payments.
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting one or more construction projects which must have a total cost of at least $300,000 for each of the five years of the required experience; or
- One year of the experience as described above and a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or related field; or
- One year of the experience as described above and a valid license as a professional engineer, registered architect, or registered landscape architect; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, and a combination of at least two years of experience as described above and the education as described above to equal a total of five years of education and experience.
- At the time of appointment, you must have a valid motor vehicle driver license in the State of New York.
- For Assignment to Level II: Candidates must have one additional year of satisfactory full-time experience working in Assignment Level I.
- For Assignment to Level III: Candidates must have two additional years of satisfactory full-time experience working in Construction Project Manager Assignment Level I and II.
