The Project

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking Project Controls Manager to join our established and growing team. As a key member of our project controls team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating a range of PMO and project controls services to support designated projects within the PMO and planning centre of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the application of specific project controls methods, techniques, and tools with a good working knowledge of a variety of techniques on a range of project and programme complexity.
  • Direct and manage a team of professionals delivering project controls services and responsible for staff development.
  • Evaluate trends and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively in a complex project environment using numerical and statistical techniques as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Lead the application of specific project controls methods, techniques, and tools.
  • Have a good working knowledge of EVM and project controls methodologies.
  • Advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively.
  • Manage project controls delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes.
  • Play a key role in multidisciplinary teams and take a lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals delivering project controls services and responsible for staff development.
  • Manage assistant managers & managers where required by the scale of the project.
  • Persuade and influence colleagues.
  • Influence clients to accept proposals and recommendations.
  • Satisfy customer requirements.
  • Tackle problems that do not have an obvious solution.
  • Delegate tasks to others.
  • Sell the business and win work.
  • Create and deliver persuasive presentations to large audiences.
  • Spot and develop talented individuals.

Requirements

  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be willing to be part of a high-performing team.
  • Be articulate and have the potential to assimilate information quickly.
  • Have attention to detail.
  • Have experience of working on construction projects and/or consultancy.
  • Have experience of delivering effective PMO and project controls/assurance frameworks/strategies.
  • Have a good knowledge of PMO and project controls tools, techniques, and software (e.g. MS office and Power BI, Aconex, Primavera P6, and RiskHive).
  • Have an interest in data analytics.
  • Have an understanding of construction/delivery lifecycle and/or consultancy.
  • Have knowledge of PMO and project controls service delivery in one or more sectors (e.g. rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals).
  • Have good interpersonal skills and the potential ability to form effective working relationships.
  • Effectively collaborate with others.
  • Be able to articulate complex information and ideas for a non-technical audience.
  • Seek to continuously improve.
  • Create and deliver clear and professional presentations to project teams/clients.
