About the Role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a highly skilled Global Supply Quality Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance supplier performance, ensure compliance with quality standards, and drive continuous supplier development initiatives across the global supply base in the category of conductors.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Category Quality Roadmap: Develop and execute a comprehensive supplier quality agenda to ensure sustainable quality in the category, aligned with the global category roadmap.
  • Supplier Qualification: Evaluate the quality management system of suppliers and align on corrective actions, ensuring effective resolution.
  • Supplier Assessment (On-site Audits): Plan and conduct supplier on-site audits, align corrective action plans with suppliers, and verify effective closure of corrective action plan items.
  • Parts Qualification: Lead the production part approval process (PPAP) for new supplier parts/materials, including coordination of trial parts and first article inspection activities with factory quality.
  • Supplier Non-Conformity Resolution: Lead the non-conformity resolution process with suppliers in case of escalated technical issues from factories, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and countermeasure implementation.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor and consolidate supplier delivery and quality KPIs, critical non-conformities escalated from factories, and identify top concern suppliers within the category.
  • Supplier Performance Improvement: Lead supplier performance improvement actions for targeted suppliers to meet customer and Hitachi Energy factories' expectations, following DMAIC and/or 8D methodology.
  • Interface with Other Functions and Suppliers: Collaborate closely with Category teams to support implementation of Category strategy, serving as liaison between SCM, Technology, Quality, and Operations and suppliers to prioritize supplier development needs at a global level.
  • Quality Projects: Complete special quality and continuous improvement projects, such as Advanced Product Quality Planning, Lean Six Sigma, supplier manuals, etc., in line with yearly BU SQ targets.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in mechanical, electrical, material, or production engineering (or similar technical discipline).
  • 8+ years of relevant quality assurance, manufacturing, supplier development, or other operational experience from international production companies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers at a global level.
  • Responsible team player with a structured, proactive, self-driven, and result-oriented work approach.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards (e.g., ISO-9001, ISO 14001), and auditing techniques.
  • Knowledge of electrical winding technology and magnet wire and CTC manufacturing process is a plus.
  • Experience working with Quality and Continuous Improvement practices (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis, etc.).
  • Proven experience with process audits, APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control, and inspection test plan creation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
