Senior Ground Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Ground Systems Engineer to join our team at D-Orbit. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, verification, validation, and maintenance of entire ground segment solutions for our innovative missions.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure the successful delivery of ground systems and related subsystems.
- Ground Segment Solutions: Lead the architectural definition of ground segment solutions for multiple applications, including Earth Observation, Space Transportation, and In-Orbit Servicing.
- Requirements Engineering: Derive and maintain requirements for ground systems and related subsystems, ensuring alignment with stakeholder, mission, and program objectives.
- Integration and Verification: Coordinate the integration of ground systems into overall mission architectures, managing interfaces between Space and Ground Segments.
- Test Campaigns: Lead the preparation and execution of verification and validation test campaigns, including Spacecraft Validation Tests (SVTs) and System Operational Validation (SOV) campaigns.
- Documentation and Training: Generate and maintain ground systems training material for D-Orbit's Mission Control Centre, and support the planning and execution of training campaigns.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical support to D-Orbit's Mission Control Centre in executing operations, and interface with ground systems development teams, including Mission Control Software, Mission Planning System, Ground Spacecraft Simulator, Ground Stations Providers, Space Tracking Service Providers, and Flight Operations.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in ground systems engineering, particularly in requirements engineering for software systems, design and development of ground systems, integration, verification, validation, and rollout of ground systems into production environments.
- Track Record: A track record of multiple successful deliveries of milestone data-packs on quality and in time within the context of big institutional programs.
- Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of typical ground segment solution architectures, experience authoring technical documents to the standards of institutional players in the space industry, and experience in requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS or Jama.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, ability to work in teams and individually, and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
