Job Title: Strategy and Planning Officer

Job Summary:

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategy and Planning Officer to join its Office of Strategy, Programme and Budget (OSP) at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of the Organization's strategic framework, medium-term plan, programme of work and budget, and programme implementation report.
  • Provide analytical support to the Director, OSP, in the preparation of reports and documents for the Governing Bodies.
  • Contribute to the design and operation of procedures and systems for work planning and the issuance of allotments.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in business or public administration, finance, economics, agriculture, development economics, international development or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation and business process analysis.
  • Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Desirable Skills:

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in collecting and analysing information from textual, database and human sources.
  • Ability to analyse complex strategy and planning issues and to integrate them into related business processes and procedures.
  • Proven track record of leading and contributing to Governing Body processes.
  • Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions:

The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract for one year with the possibility of extension. The position is located in the Office of Strategy, Programme and Budget (OSP) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
