About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Global Coastal Ocean Division Director to lead our research efforts in the field of climate change and coastal ocean forecasting. As a key member of our Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP), you will be responsible for advancing our research agenda and driving significant growth within the GOCO Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a fundraising agenda in line with the objectives of the division and with the strategy of the Institute.
  • Implement and monitor research projects, identifying priorities concerning the mandate of the division.
  • Coordinate with other Division Directors in the elaboration and submission of funding proposals.
  • Plan and manage resources, making efficient use of funding.
  • Manage human resources, with a view to guidance and mentoring, facilitating involvement, motivation, satisfaction, and growth.
  • Collaborate with other Division Directors to ensure disciplinary integration.
  • Monitor the progress of projects in compliance with deadlines.
  • Develop a network of contacts in collaboration with the Institute Director.
  • Ensure communication with the research community and society at large.
  • Support the Institute Director in the creation of reports and KPIs for the evaluation of results achieved.
Requirements
  • Ability to coordinate and manage personnel.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and supervise research activities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent English language skills.
What We Offer
  • Permanent contract with a 3-year renewable appointment, following evaluation of the achievement of objectives.
  • Gross annual salary based on qualification and working experience.
  • Recognition of a variable remuneration portion valued based on objectives achieved related to the role.
  • Welfare package for minimum 12 months contract.
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies.
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.
