Marine Design Engineer - Fincantieri

Location: Italy - Genova

Job Overview

Fincantieri is seeking a Marine Design Engineer to join its Engineering Department in Genoa.

Key Responsibilities

The Marine Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and development of naval vessels, ensuring adherence to key success factors in ship design:

  • Management of requirements utilizing MS Excel and Doors (or Jazz);
  • Conducting pre-design phases based on critical design drivers;
  • Developing General Arrangement (GA) architecture, integrating various operational flows;
  • Designing hull forms, including generation through specialized software;
  • Performing hydrodynamic analyses using diverse methodologies;
  • Assessing stability with dedicated software tools;
  • Defining structural parameters and scantling;
  • Overseeing overall propulsion design.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of naval vessels, particularly Surface Combatant Classes, and be familiar with relevant Class Rules.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering;
  • Proficient in English (speaking, writing, and reading);
  • Expertise in CAD software, particularly Rhinoceros, AutoCAD, and Maxsurf (experience with Microstation and Aveva Marine is advantageous);
  • Ability to manage subcontracted studies and collaborate effectively in a multinational environment.
