Job Description

The Technical & Engineering division of Randstad Professionals is engaged in the recruitment and selection of mid-level to senior management profiles for a prominent client in the port sector. We are currently seeking a:
PROJECT MANAGER - CIVIL ENGINEER
This role is vital within the Asset team.

The Civil Engineer will oversee the design and construction of civil assets, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and compliant delivery of projects.


Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design office for terminal expansion projects;
- Conduct technical and feasibility assessments, including preliminary, detailed, and execution designs, along with the preparation of bill of quantities and pricing schedules for structures and services;
- Develop construction initiatives from design through to delivery to the operational team;
- Ensure adherence to safety standards throughout both design and execution phases;
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports detailing timelines and cost forecasts;
- Optimize civil and construction projects concerning planning, execution, and cost management;
- Perform on-site investigations and analyze relevant data and reports;
- Regularly update the construction schedule in collaboration with the project control team, identifying potential challenges in project execution;
- Prevent potential breaches of construction and supply agreements;
- Manage collaboration with various internal and external providers and stakeholders, including public authorities when necessary;
- Supervise on-site civil/construction activities with respect to production, quality, and safety standards;
- Adhere to procurement guidelines, compliance, and documentation protocols;
- Maintain accurate filing of technical documentation in partnership with the Document Controller;
- Uphold all safety and security regulations, leading by example;
- Support the department and business unit as needed;
- Follow corporate authority matrices and compliance guidelines for contract policies;
- Actively report opportunities for improvement to direct reports.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a valid Civil Engineer license;
- Experience in formal and technical documentation and regulatory approvals;
- A minimum of 5 years in civil engineering, particularly in design, implementation, and supervision of projects exceeding €50 million;
- Proficiency in design, implementation, and oversight of civil assets;
- Strong command of English and Italian (German is advantageous);
- Excellent skills in AutoCAD;
- Comprehensive understanding of civil and safety regulations and international standards;
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing construction projects effectively;
- A proactive and problem-solving mindset, with a hands-on approach to meeting project milestones;
- Flexibility and a willingness to tackle challenges;
- Experience in supervising construction projects;
- Strong networking abilities with internal and external technical offices and stakeholders;
- The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving in coordination with various stakeholders.

The ideal candidate should have a valid EU working permit and be open to relocation.
