Job Summary

The Watershed Volunteer Program Assistant provides administrative and technical support to the day-to-day operations of the Watershed Volunteer Program under the guidance of the Watershed Volunteer Coordinator. This role is responsible for database management and reporting, monitoring and restoration project design, event coordination, volunteer recruitment and recognition, and communication with volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the daily coordination and administrative duties of the Watershed Volunteer Program.
  • Identify and maintain recruitment efforts to attract and engage volunteers.
  • Track and process volunteer requests and applications in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist with marketing events and programs to promote the Watershed Volunteer Program.
  • Maintain ongoing and quarterly program evaluation and reporting to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from volunteers and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with tracking, scheduling, and preparation of materials for volunteer trainings, projects, and presentations.
  • Support independent volunteer projects with training, logistics, and resources as needed.
  • Track volunteer progress towards Watershed Steward certification and distribute recognition items promptly.
  • Perform data entry and material distribution duties on a daily basis to ensure program efficiency.
  • Host learning opportunities, monitoring events, and restoration activities at various locations throughout the park district.
  • Represent the Watershed Volunteer program at community events to promote the program and engage with stakeholders.
  • Write and distribute e-newsletters and communications to volunteers and partners to keep them informed about program activities and updates.
  • Coordinate with Volunteer Services as necessary to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Keep direct supervisor promptly informed of key issues or concerns that may impact program operations.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers, and the public.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A strong understanding of conservation and environmental principles is essential, as well as experience working with volunteers and community groups. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
