Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the organization at international meetings and conferences, and engage with stakeholders to promote the organization's work and interests.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices, and to support the development of national and regional fisheries management plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to identify and address emerging issues and opportunities in aquatic resource management and fisheries governance.
  • Provide technical and policy advice to Members and Decentralized Offices on aquatic resource management and fisheries governance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, and civil society groups.
Requirements
  • Advanced university degree in a relevant field, such as aquatic resource management, fisheries science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in aquatic resource management and fisheries governance, with a strong track record of leadership and technical expertise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and partners at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Fluency in English, with a working knowledge of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
