Role Objective:

The Cyber Security Solutions Engineer will concentrate on the architecture, testing, and deployment of cyber security measures tailored for satellite systems. This role involves providing expert support to various technical teams regarding cyber security and the integration of security tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer security needs and translate them into system security requirements.
  • Design security architectures and develop comprehensive cyber security documentation at both system and component levels.
  • Implement and oversee security solutions to safeguard both Space Segment and Ground Segment infrastructures.
  • Evaluate Security Risk Assessment results to formulate new cyber security strategies.
  • Collaborate with partners and subcontractors to identify optimal security solutions that fulfill customer requirements.
  • Engage in technology scouting to drive innovation within the cyber security domain.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements for security design gaps in current and proposed architectures.
  • Conduct testing of security systems to ensure expected performance.
  • Lead or supervise Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing to uncover potential vulnerabilities in networks and integrated systems.
  • Document security operating procedures and protocols (SecOps).
  • Prepare reports detailing assessment findings, outcomes, and recommendations for system security improvements.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives for national and international organizations (e.g., national space agencies, ESA, EUSPA, European Commission).
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for proposals.
  • Provide training for end users of security solutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree in STEM fields, preferably with a focus on Cyber Security.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken (minimum B2 level).
  • Experience in designing and implementing security systems, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, packet capture, authentication systems, SIEM, XDR, VA/PT, KMS, PKI, and Threat Intelligence Systems.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, risk assessment, cryptographic techniques, key management, and National Security Certifications (e.g., Common Criteria, TEMPEST, Cryptosec).
  • Understanding of Security Operation Center architectures for critical infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 2700x, EU Security Directives, and National Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Familiarity with INCOSE and ECSS system engineering methodologies.
  • Awareness of regulations for designing classified information systems at national, EU, or NATO levels is a plus.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills, with the capacity to lead initiatives across multiple departments.
  • Ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, technology projects, and information security programs.
  • Capability to serve as a security subject matter expert within the engineering team.
