Job Overview:

The Financial Accounting Manager will oversee the comprehensive management and direction of the accounting division. This role entails supervising the accounting team, analyzing financial reports, and generating documentation for senior management. Additionally, the manager will formulate and enforce accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Accounting

  • Accountable for the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of financial accounting processes, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements in compliance with local GAAP.
  • Conduct reviews of sales and gross margin by business unit and product, assess overheads by cost center and business unit, ensure proper accruals and provisions, and finalize EBIT/EBITDA.

2. Treasury Management

  • Oversee the company’s cash flow and manage cash and bank balances, including credit facilities, to ensure operational efficiency and optimize cash positions.
  • Prepare a detailed 15-week cash flow forecast bi-weekly or as needed, ensuring high accuracy in comparison to actual figures.

3. Statutory Compliance

  • Lead the statutory audit process, including stock assessments, to guarantee that audits are conducted smoothly and that unqualified audit reports are received within required timelines.
  • Collaborate with the company secretary to ensure adherence to local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local laws, including license applications and renewals, e-invoicing, and transfer pricing regulations.

4. Credit Control and Risk Assessment

  • Evaluate and approve new credit applications and renewals, including adjustments to credit limits.
  • Assess current credit risks and recommend provisions for doubtful accounts when necessary.
  • Maintain strict control over approved credit limits and terms, conducting periodic credit assessments for all customers.
  • Manage credit recovery efforts in coordination with the sales team and legal counsel for slow or non-collections.

5. Process Enhancement

  • Lead initiatives aimed at process improvements, such as e-claims and new procurement procedures.

6. Working Capital Management

  • Manage stock levels, including inventory reporting and assessment, to meet company targets for Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO).
  • Oversee accounts receivable collections and projections to achieve Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets.
  • Ensure timely accounts payable processing to facilitate smooth operations while maximizing payment terms to enhance working capital and meet Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) targets.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with a strong background in accounting within a manufacturing context.
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting principles and ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic work environment and embrace challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-driven, resourceful, mature, and capable of working independently.

Educational Background:

  • Degree in Accounting, ACCA, MICPA, CPA, or a related field in Finance.
