About the Role

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as Assistant Director of Asset and Data Management in the Office of Maximo and Asset Management (OMAM). This role will play a critical part in driving the department's project portfolio and delivery, leveraging asset management data systems, and collaborating with business department/unit leads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Director and Director in collaborating and coordinating with NYCHA's Information Technology (IT) Department and various operational business units to analyze and review all Maximo-based asset and location data, owner groups, custodian records, labor records, and system-generated reports.
  • Identify and analyze trends to bring potential issues, gaps, or other problems to light and propose possible resolutions to issues and challenges to the Senior Director and leadership team.
  • Lead efforts to collect all available data on known assets and locations to fill in the gaps in NYCHA's Asset Management System (Maximo) and improve departments' abilities to monitor, maintain, repair, and operationalize them to ensure successful mission delivery.
  • Collaborate with IT in reviewing existing processes/templates for collecting related information, as well as the prioritization of departmental demands and system enhancement requests and proposing possible resolutions and implementing as required.
  • Perform data analytics (to include data cleaning and preparation; leveraging tools and techniques to identify patterns, relationships, and trends; creating visual representations of data findings through charts, graphs, and dashboards; and preparing reports and presentations to communicate outcomes of the analyses) to guide operational strategies and improve outcomes.
  • Respond to information requests when directed, assigning requests to the appropriate business unit for action, and tracking follow-ups to completion.
  • Research issues, prepare briefings, participate in working groups, committees, and special projects.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly with Property Management, Healthy Homes, Operations Support Services, and Technical Services, and other relevant points of contact and providing follow-up where needed.
  • Represent the OMAM Department where necessary in committees and subcommittees involved in special initiatives or projects, where necessary.
  • Provide backup to the Senior Director/Director for management and escalation issues when designated.
Requirements
  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business, or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research, or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.
  • 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative, or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above.
