Job Title: Electrical Systems Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Electrical Systems Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and implementation of electrical and electronic systems at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and organizational skills to ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems and the safety of personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of electricians and monitor all activities related to the ordinary maintenance of electrical systems, including substations, generators, UPSs, panelboards, fire alarm, lifts, and special security systems.
  • Supervise extraordinary works, ensuring compliance with timelines, quality, client requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Assist the Facilities Management Officer in supervising large projects, monitoring the performance of contractors, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
  • Prepare work programs and schedules, and assist in preparing contract specifications and evaluating tenders in the electrical field.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates for maintenance works and renovation works in the electrical field.
  • Prepare daily and monthly plans for the Electricians Group and liaise with the Maintenance Assistant for technical installations when necessary.
  • Monitor the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of lifts as performed by external contractors.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for the acquisition of electrical materials for internal electricians.
  • Highlight areas requiring special maintenance of electrical systems and propose actions for future improvement.
  • Investigate and assist in market research to identify new products that could be advantageous to the Service.
  • Propose and implement actions to save energy consumption of buildings.
  • Ensure the efficient and safe functioning of electrical equipment according to Italian and European Union Safety codes.
  • Provide reports and prepare schemes related to activities performed.
  • Suggest actions to improve continuity of electric service to critical areas of the Organization.
  • Support corporate initiatives in accordance with the Corporate Environmental Responsibility Strategy to reduce emissions, increase efficiency, and integrate sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Secondary technical school education supplemented by certified technical courses.
  • Five years of experience in the maintenance of electrical and/or special systems in large buildings.
  • Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English.
  • Very good knowledge of standard MS Office applications, Internet, and office technology equipment.
  • Residency: General Service Staff are recruited locally. To be eligible for this position, candidates must be nationals of the country of the duty station or possess an existing visa/work permit and reside within commuting distance of the duty station at the time of the application.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Good knowledge of concepts and principles of electrical, electronic systems, and components.
  • Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of Italian.
  • Knowledge of corporate environmental responsibility.
