We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, who will report directly to the head of the Electrical section, to become part of our Electrical Engineering division based in Rome, Italy.

Position Overview

As a member of the Electrical Section, you will be engaged in the design of electrical systems for medium to large-scale and intricate projects.

The Senior Electrical Engineer role entails independently managing assigned tasks, with minimal oversight from other senior engineers, except for specific topics; your work will be periodically evaluated by the Lead Electrical Engineer to ensure that objectives are met.

Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Developing project technical specifications that align with client and project requirements;
  • Achieving project quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) objectives;
  • Providing appropriate updates on engineering and requisitioning activities to the Lead Electrical Engineer;
  • Collaborating with engineers from other disciplines and project support functions such as Procurement, Construction, and Planning;
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of a small team of drafters, junior/intermediate designers, and/or engineers;
  • Preparing and/or reviewing Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Area Classification drawings, Grounding System layouts, Panel/Cable schedules, Equipment layouts, Cable layouts, Lighting system layouts, and Electrical installation details;
  • Conducting power system studies (short circuit, load flow, motor starting, arc flash, harmonic analysis) utilizing ETAP or similar software;
  • Performing calculations for sizing main electrical equipment, UPS, cables, lighting systems, grounding systems, and heat tracing systems;
  • Preparing Electrical Equipment Material Requisitions and Data sheets;
  • Evaluating Vendor Bids and preparing Technical Bids Evaluations;
  • Ensuring effective communication with Vendors and overseeing the technical follow-up of orders;
  • Reviewing Vendor Drawings.

You will have opportunities for business travel to attend technical meetings with clients or suppliers, visit vendor workshops, and collaborate with colleagues in various Technip Energies operating centers. Occasionally, you may also oversee engineering activities related to the Electrical discipline directly on-site, supporting erection, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.

Candidate Profile

We welcome applications from candidates who meet the following essential qualifications:

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Languages: Fluent in English

Key Skills:

  • A minimum of 3-6 years of experience in detailed engineering and design of electrical systems for Refinery, Gas, Power, Renewables, or Infrastructure projects in a similar capacity;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards such as IEC, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, CSA, UL, API, etc.;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with the design team to resolve project-related issues in a multicultural environment;
  • A keen interest in current energy transition challenges and digital transformation processes;
  • Willingness to travel internationally for short or long-term assignments;
  • Familiarity with new energy sources, renewables, and green/blue hydrogen technologies is highly valued;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA, Query, and Database management is advantageous;
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and adaptable to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
