Position Overview:
The role of the Cafeteria Technician is essential for the preparation and delivery of food items to students and school staff, while ensuring that food service areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner. This position is vital for supporting various operational processes within the cafeteria environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up food items, supplies, and serving lines to meet cafeteria standards.
- Provide assistance in other site activities, including mentoring substitutes and supporting special events that require food service.
- Clean and maintain kitchen utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas to uphold sanitary conditions.
- Collect payments for food services to ensure proper financial management.
- Assess prepared food for quality, ensuring it meets taste, appearance, and temperature standards.
- Inspect incoming food items and supplies to verify compliance with health regulations.
- Conduct inventory checks of food and supplies to guarantee availability.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personnel and student information to protect privacy.
- Monitor student food selections to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages to meet nutritional needs and requests.
- Report any equipment issues to maintain safe operational standards.
- Address inquiries from students, staff, and parents regarding meal options and pricing.
- Stock food and supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the efficient operation of the cafeteria.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Certification: Food Handlers/Serv Safe Certificate by NRA must be obtained within one year of employment.
