About the Role

Air Liquide, a leading industrial gases and services company, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Automation Specialist to join its Capital Projects Team in Milan or Priolo. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing instrumentation and automation systems for major industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical solutions for instrumentation and automation systems, ensuring compliance with company standards and project specifications.
  • Participate in cost budget estimation, request for quotation, and technical offer development.
  • Lead technical discussions with vendors, support risk assessment, and provide technical input to ensure a safe and reliable solution.
  • Support the development of project schedules and manpower requirements.
  • Review and develop basic and detailed design documents, ensuring compliance with company rules and project specifications.
  • Support procurement by identifying, pre-selecting, and qualifying suppliers of instrumentation and automation systems and apparatus.
  • Develop project deliverables and material requisitions, including data-base, data-sheets, specifications, and ITP.
  • Carry out technical alignment of vendor offers, developing technical tabulation and bid evaluation.
  • Provide support to the buyer during the purchase order definition phase and vendor follow-up.
  • Manage instrumental and automation design activities of external companies, ensuring development within project times and costs.
  • Support construction site activities related to instrumentation and automation systems and apparatus.
  • Supervise and coordinate external engineers and engineering companies, ensuring engineering quality and compliance with project and contractual contents.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Instrument Automation Engineer in Engineering and Contracting Companies.
  • Degree or diploma in electronics or automation engineering.
  • DCS, PLC, SCADA, Fieldbus, Sensor, and Actuator knowledge.
  • Knowledge of instrumental and automation international norms and regulations.
  • Fluency in Italian, English spoken and written.
  • Preferential qualification: Basic knowledge of production processes of industrial gases.
  • Knowledge of other languages such as French or Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, ability to work in a team, strong coordination skills, dynamism, and motivation to work accompanied by adaptability and enthusiasm.
  • Result orientation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability for missions/trips, both in Italy and abroad.
