This role brings together cross‑functional teams of software, hardware, network, and operations experts to deliver the highest standards of safety, security, and capacity at the lowest cost.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, maintaining high availability and performance while ensuring internal and external customers are not impacted.Manage on‑site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring work is performed according to established practices, procedures, and safety protocols.Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team.Hire, coach, and promote team members, responsible for career development and performance management.Engage in improvement projects, driving them from conception to completion and collaborating with support teams.Act as an escalation point for all facilities‑related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and HVAC equipment.Utilize root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills to respond to out‑of‑hours emergency calls.Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other basic administrative tools for day‑to‑day tasks.Physical RequirementsParticipate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder.Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push and pull objects into position.Work in an environment requiring provided ear protection.About the TeamAmazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. The Data Center Facility Manager will serve as a technical resource and leader to maintain high reliability and performance while minimizing operating costs.Basic QualificationsHigh school or equivalent diploma.4+ years experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or mission‑critical environment with knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, and other critical infrastructure, OR 7+ years of technical (military/trade school) training and/or experience.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced electrical or mechanical certifications (Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline).7+ years experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.Excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAHU units.Strong verbal and written communication skills, technical writing or business justifications (white paper experience).Equal OpportunityAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Amazon is a total compensation company.
