If you’re looking to work on mission‑critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, national security, and AI, your impact starts here.The OpportunityLeoLabs is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Full‑Stack Software Engineer to join our cross‑functional Insights team. This is a collaborative high‑impact team of 10 engineers and a key part of our broader 30‑person software engineering organization. As a Full‑Stack Engineer on the Insights team, you will play a central role in developing customer‑facing analytics, integrations with customer systems, and mission‑critical APIs and services. Your work will power real‑time decisions that help protect and manage satellites and other objects in low‑earth orbit.The Insights Team Builds and MaintainsWeb‑based UIs and applicationsBackend services and business logicIntegrations between systems and APIsDeployments to cloud and on‑site environmentsInterfaces with LeoLabs’ data lakeWe leverage services built and maintained by other LeoLabs teams, including radar development and operations and catalog maintenance. While this role will be primarily focused on delivery of back‑end services, some experience with front‑end development is desirable.What You’ll DoDesign, build, and maintain scalable cloud‑based backend services and APIsCollaborate with front‑end engineers, data teams, and infrastructure to deliver full‑feature solutionsEnsure reliability, performance, and scalability of production systemsIntegrate with internal and customer‑facing systems using secure, robust practicesDeploy services to both cloud and on‑site environmentsParticipate in the full Agile development lifecycle: planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenanceContribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and architectureQualificationsB.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a fast‑paced development environmentExtensive experience designing, building, testing, deploying and maintaining cloud‑based software services and APIsSignificant expertise in Python is required, with additional experience in languages such as Go or C++ considered a plusStrong knowledge of software development and testing methodologies, best practices, and industry standardsExperience with cloud environments like AWS/GCP/AzureExperience with databases like Postgres/MySQLExperience building message‑driven applications with tools such as Kafka and SQSSolid understanding of Agile workflows and principlesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teamsWillingness to participate in on‑call rotations for critical issue responseEligibility for US security clearancePreferred qualificationsExperience deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes, including container orchestration, scaling, and monitoring in cloud environmentsFamiliarity with building user interfaces with front‑end technologies such as TypeScript, JavaScript and HTMLDesired experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting applications using KubernetesBackground in Math/Physics, AI/ML, or Orbital MechanicsActive US security clearanceWithin 1 month, you’ll:Complete onboarding and get ramped up on our mission, team, and tech stack.
