RINA is currently recruiting for a Principal SAR System Engineer to join its office in ROME within the Electronics and System Engineering Division. Mission We are looking for a Senior SAR System Engineer with deep expertise in synthetic aperture radar design, signal processing, and image performance optimization. This role will drive the technical direction of next-generation SAR payload. Key Accountabilities Lead SAR payload architecture, RF chain design, and antenna specifications Develop SAR acquisition modes (Stripmap, Spotlight, ScanSAR) Define image quality metrics (NESZ, resolution, ambiguity ratios) Collaborate with AI / ML teams on onboard processing algorithms Oversee calibration, radiometric accuracy, and commissioning phases Interface with ground segment for data exploitation Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General or Aerospace Engineering Qualifications 15+ years of experience in SAR system development Expertise in SAR processing algorithms and RF payload design Experience with X-band, onboard processing, and data compression Strong analytical skills and experience with ESA / ECSS environments Competencies ADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective way BUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organization CLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfaction EARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into
