If you want to grow your career whilst finding the perfect balance between work and life, Vodafone offers the opportunities to help you belong and make a real impact.What You’ll DoDevelop the Optical Technology Evolution plan for the transmission network including the Optical Area Controller to deliver a harmonised solution across the European markets and the international networksDo the Optical SDN controller and Optical Network Element Type Approval Testing on centralised acceptance labs, including the controller North‑bound interface and the integration type approval test with the hierarchical controllerSteer the vendor toward quality improvement of the SW and HW delivered using the type approval test process, managing bug fixing and the request for change planningManage the optical automation portfolio, including development of AI solutions applied to the optical networkDevelop the testing procedures for Optical SDN controller integrated on the full SDN stack architecture and with the optical lab environmentDesign and develop solutions for testing automation on the centralised labsDeliver the optical planning guideline to guide the vertical design teams toward a harmonised network evolution pathSupport through cost/benefit exercise strategic decisions on transport networkKey Accountabilities and Decision OwnershipAnalyse country‑specific and international demands to develop the technology harmonised plan.Type‑approve testing of the new HW and SW delivered by the optical vendor.Deliver the optical planning guide document based on the configuration type approved.Manage the optical lab in Milan, coordinating on‑site services provided by the external company and maintaining the lab infrastructure.Contribute to the definition of optical SDN use cases and plan the optical release to deliver optical automation.Who You AreAct as a team player.Self‑starter with drive to push barriers and a pragmatic approach to get the job done.Excellent communication skills.Cultural awareness.Preferred Technical / Professional QualificationsDeep knowledge of networking and transmission protocols and technology (e.g. DWDM, OTN) in a multi‑vendor environment (e.g. Nokia, Huawei, Ciena) with at least five years of experience.Very good knowledge of testing methodologies for optical transmission technology.Good knowledge of Cloud Virtualisation solutions, particularly their application in the transmission network (e.g. the Software‑Defined Network).Good knowledge of IP/MPLS technology.Knowledge of Python and software scripting is a plus.Experience in network process automation is a plus.Not a Perfect Fit?
