Hauptaufgaben Incumbent plans, establishes, and maintains a systematic preventive program for the control and extermination of insects, rodents and pests that endanger plants, subsistence supplies, and health throughout the Vicenza Military Community to ensure effective control of pests and vectors of disease affecting the health, morale and environment of all Garrison personnel. Performs periodic inspections to determine type of insecticide or larvicide to be applied in different areas. Controls rodents by preparing and setting up bait stations, applies appropriate and approved rodenticide depending on the locality. Establishes frequency of rebating. Uses approved products for weeds control on installations. Ensures bilingual notices are displayed whenever toxic materials are used and maintains an accurate inventory and Safety Data Sheets record of pesticides/dangerous materials used. Provides support to the Roads & Grounds trade by operating some weeding treatment along streets and walkways mixing the right quantity of product in accordance with Host Nation regulations. Reports to supervisor any pests and diseases affecting trees and bushes. Provides advice and assistance to supervisors and colleagues on the best methods of eradication of insects and for combating certain plant diseases. Uses specific technical programs (e.g. Auto-CAD) to establish and maintain a complete file with job-related maps (rats bait station position, fly traps position, trees maps of the installations). Maintains all records for the section, to include, in part, Time Distribution records, insect and rodent daily work records, insect and rodent control of buildings and activity cards, insect and rodent control records and preventive spray schedules.
