The Data Center Technician role involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics, followed by physical repair, as well as participation in an on-call rotation.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We’re the people who keep the cloud running and support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access for customers. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating with teams across AWS to achieve safety, security, and cost efficiency. Lump sum relocation stipends may be provided to eligible candidates.Physical requirements and travel expectations are described below, including shifts to support 24/7 operations and potential travel to sites under development or for training.ResponsibilitiesPerform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.Troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents affecting service availability, and perform routine repairs to maintain AWS service reliability.Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.Participate in on-call duties and scheduled maintenance/change management activities.Contribute to documentation and process improvements based on issue analysis.Assist in interviewing, training, and onboarding new team members.A day in the lifeTake ownership of technical issues, engaging other teams as needed to drive resolution.Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; address root causes and understand broader context.Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.Act proactively in the absence of direction or support and drive process improvements.Work shift work that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.QualificationsBasic QualificationsWork a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.18+ months of computer Layer 1/2 networking experience, including troubleshooting and repair.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a data center or other critical environment.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).Industry-standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience; experience training and onboarding new team members.Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
