As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining mission-critical technology infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and high uptime within AWS data centers.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the services they rely on. We work on challenging problems with many variables and are looking for talented people who want to help.You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Lump sum relocation stipends are provided to eligible candidates.ResponsibilitiesDaily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability and availabilityMonitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA)Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLAPerform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipmentProvide technical writing to support the change management programMonitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completionProvide on-site support of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring all work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislationWork schedule changes depending on site needs; shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule; some locations have on-call rotationsRole may support more than one location/sitePhysical RequirementsRegularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently; participate in group lifts for 40+ poundsMaintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladderRegularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, and work above shouldersGrasp, carry, push and pull objects into positionWork in an environment requiring provided ear protectionWillingness to travel as needed and work at various sites during training or until assigned facility is operationalEssential QualificationsAbility to travel to or commute between data center locations as neededWillingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until an assigned facility is operationalTravel frequency will vary based on business needs and the status of the assigned facilityCandidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required by business needs.Qualifications1+ year of electrical or mechanical experience, or 1+ year of data center or mission critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility)High school diploma or equivalentPreferred: 2+ years of data center engineering experienceOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
